The presence of antibiotics could be an effective solution in treating diseases caused by bacteria. However, when the bacteria have become resistant to it, needed an alternative that can make treatment becomes effective again.

Prof. Les Baillie, of Cardiff University in the UK states, not impossible that the world will return to a time where antibiotics have not been found, so that kind of treatment of the disease into a big problem.

Therefore, scientists are now seeking to make an alternative solution when bacteria have become resistant to antibiotics. Baillie currently chairs the research team to find out whether the ancient remedy such as tea and honey can be the next way as the most effective drugs to treat the disease.

Tea is known to contain a compound called polyphenols that have the ability to kill microorganisms.

The research team led by Baillie has found, tea able to treat diseases caused by Clostridium difficile, a bacterium that is responsible for at least 2,000 people were killed and more than 24,000 cases of infection last year.
