Beware, Flu Virus Can Spread Within Distance Two Meter
America – A recent study in North Carolina showed that the flu virus can spread within six feet or about 1.8 meters when the patient coughs or sneezes.
It was discovered by researchers from the School of Medicine of Wake Forest in North Carolina after observing 94 patients with flu-like symptoms during 2010 to 2011, during the flu season.
“Our research shows evidence of the spread of the influenza virus. Hopefully, this study provides a better understanding and help in the fight against the flu virus,” the researchers said, as reported by the NY Daily News.
In their research, they collect air samples around flu patients from various distances. In addition, they also collected air when the patient sneezes or coughs.
The results found that 65 percent of patients tested positive for the flu. In this group, about 43 percent of patients release particles containing the virus into the air. The researchers also found that people who experience severe influenza is one of the most shed virus into the air.
So if you are close to someone who is showing signs of a cold or flu, try your best to keep your distance if you do not want to catch the disease.
