Alert, an ankle injury can be cause calcification
Singapore – Most people think of an ankle injury is common complaint that many choose to treat yourself with how compress or bandage the injured ankle.
In fact, if the complaint is not addressed can lead to calcification completely after ten years. As stated by an orthopedic surgeon from Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore, Dr Jeffrey Chew.
“If we do an ankle injury, then after ten years could be a calcification. Therefore, when an ankle injury should be immediately justified when the ligaments are stretched to the foot flexed, due to wrong footing,” said the doctor who has over 20 years in this field.
Jeffrey explains, liming is not only happening because of an ankle injury, but can also occur when a previous accident.
Calcification himself, he added, is common in women over the age of 50 years, and usually occur in the spine, knees, shoulders and hands.
To treat it, says Jeffrey, people can take anti-pain medication, injections of steroids (cortisone or corticosteroids), physiotherapy and surgery. All of that, he added, depending on the stage of calcification suffered.
