Malang – Five students from the UB successfully apply the knowledge they learn in real life. In fact, the work they claimed to be able to help people with Diabetes Mellitus (DM).
They are Fahad Arwani, Reno Muktiaji Herdhiansyah (Electrical Engineering), Arfianita Ramadhani, Putro Aneswari (Nursing), and Fahri Muhammad Akbar (Economic Development), which initiated the exterminator technological innovation MRSA bacteria in diabetic wounds.
The technology, called Kill Your Bacteria (KYUBI) can prevent diabetes patients from amputation. KYUBI uses a low-power power to kill bacteria and reduce injury in patients with DM.
KYUBI is equipped with a gel electrolyte is placed in such a way that flank wound. After KYUBI turned on, an electrical pulse will pass the cuts to later conduct electricity compression splitting the bacterial cell membrane. Within five minutes, KYUBI able to kill 100 percent of some bacteria.
Currently, Fahad and his colleagues is working on clinical trials and seeking a patent on their invention was. KYUBI recently won the event ESPIRIEX 2013 for the international category.
